2024 South Florida Basketball Association Luncheon A Magnificent Success
The ballroom at Broken Sound Club was filled to capacity with basketball legends, coaches galore and enthusiasts for our annual legends charity luncheon which featured Israel’s Mr. Basketball Tal Brody, NBA Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkens and the Miami Heats’ Tony Fiorientino.
Dave LaMont ran the play-by-play and the South Florida broadcasting legend was the right man for the job. For nearly 20 years he was an announcer for the ESPN family of networks and earlier in his career he was a radio announcer for the Miami Hurricanes football, basketball and baseball teams. He also was the first announcer for the Miami Heat. A South Florida broadcast legend, Dave was the first voice of the FAU Owls football team. He is a graduate of the University of Miami and was the original host of The First Team on WQAM in South Florida.
Four-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer, Shaq made a special presentation to the South Florida Basketball Association. Shaq, who was the first-round draft choice of the Orlando Magic and won championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, is now a member of the Emmy winning TNT Inside the NBA. He is a multi-dimensional talent and all-around good-guy.
